Expansion Update 5/11/2015
Plattsburgh International Airport is still in phase II of its $55 Million Dollar expansion. We are excited to share with you this week’s news and updates about the expansion.
Here’s what has happened:
The construction work on a new elevator has begun. This construction is imperative to the airport being ADA compliant and will allow PBG to be accessible to all passengers.
Structural steel work on the ticket counter area continued. This important step will allow designers to install additional ticket counters to accomodate the anticipated increase in passengers.
With an increase demand for car rentals, contractors are working on expanding the Car Rental space. Because of this the car rental counters have been temporally relocated. – Thanks for your patience.
What you can expect next:
Demolition and foundation work on the entry area and car rental area will continue.
Baggage Claim work will also begin. In the final plans for the terminal expansion, baggage claim will be moved and feature two carousels.
The utility layout and installation will begin at ground level in the departure terminal. Once the new departure terminal, or concourse, is complete there will be a total of 3 jet bridges, 2 of which will be new additions.
If you have not done so recently, drive by the terminal, there is a lot to see.
Passengers please be aware that there will be ongoing construction to the entry area of the terminal. Walkways will be marked for use.
Also, please pardon the noise during this phase of construction. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact Airport Staff or Police Office on duty.
